Abstract: Stress and deformation distribution of linings and surrounding rock play a critical role in tunnel’s stability and management. Circular rock tunnel with two different linings are taken into account to explore its stress field and deformation field based on modified Fenner formula and Mohr-Coulomb yield criteria. Three kinds of varied plastic zones form the inner ling to the outer surrounding rock are individually studied one by one. In the case of circumferential stress as the first principal stress, analytical solutions for the stress and deformation distribution are obtained in terms of elastic modulus, Poisson’s ratio, cohesion and internal friction angle. Finally, generalized conditions controlling the yield zone’s positions are put forward.
