Abstract
The low frequency vibration and noise in automobile have a great influence on the comfort of the automobile. Attaching damping material on the surface of the auto-body sheet metals can effectively control the vibration and noise level. In this paper, the viscoelastic damping material is selected and optimized by taking the body floor as study object. Firstly, the changes of loss factor with temperature and frequency is studied. Then, the interior noise spectrum tests of different kinds of damping materials are carried out. After that, the finite element model of body floor is established, and the placement of damping material on the body floor is optimized by the comprehensive modal strain energy method. The results show that the selected damping material is good for vibration and noise reduction. After optimization, 40% damping material is used to achieve the same damping effect as full coverage damping.
